Shape Over Size: The Key to Finding Your Style at Any Stage

If there’s one thing my research into sustainable fashion and personal styling has taught me, it’s this: shape matters more than size.
For years, brands have pushed size charts as the ultimate guide to fit, but here’s the reality—two people wearing the same size can have entirely different body shapes, making fit a frustrating guessing game. My research has found that one of the biggest pain points for women, especially those over 30 or postpartum, is that clothing is not designed with shape changes in mind. We’re expected to shrink back into old clothes or constantly buy new ones, but what if the real solution is understanding your shape first?
I know this firsthand. In my own journey toward better health, I’ve been eating well and working out consistently. And guess what? I haven’t lost a single gram on the scale. Not one! But here’s the kicker—I’ve lost 10cm from my waist.

The scale doesn’t tell the full story, and neither does a clothing size.
Women’s bodies shift through different life stages. Whether it’s postpregnancy, entering your 30s and beyond, or simply experiencing the natural decline in muscle mass that comes with time, our shape evolves. And that’s not a bad thing! The problem is that fashion doesn’t always keep up.
But we can. At Look at the Labels, we help women redefine their style by focusing on fit, shape, and the clothes they already own.

Instead of throwing out half your wardrobe in frustration, let’s work with what you’ve got. With the right styling techniques, you can:
Make your existing pieces work for your current shape
Identify cuts and silhouettes that flatter and feel comfortable
Build a wardrobe that evolves with you, not against you
It’s not about squeezing into a number—it’s about celebrating the shape you’re in and making it work for you. So, if you’ve ever felt like nothing fits quite right anymore, you’re not alone. But the good news? The answer isn’t in more shopping—it’s in more understanding.
Are you ready to style your shape, not just your size? Let’s make fashion fit you—not the other way around.
